The Victoria and Albert Museum is the world's greatest museum of of art and design and a very popular London Museum. As well as the permanent exhibitions at the V&A there is a program of changing exhibitions running throughout the year. Many of the exhibitions are FREE and cover subjects from design and fashion to photography and architecture.

The word 'maharaja' (literally 'great king') conjures up images of fantasy and spectacle. The heyday of the maharajas began in earnest after the collapse of the Mughal empire in the early 18th century. The exhibition will open with this period of chaos and adventure and will close at the end of British rule in 1947, when Indian princes acceded their territories into the modern states of India and Pakistan.

Late Night Events

On the last Friday of every month (except December), the V&A hosts a contemporary late night event in the museum centered around a theme or exhibition. These evenings are very popular and feature live performances and guest DJ's - there's also a late bar. Admission to the V&A is free although some exhibitions and events may carry a separate charge.

The V&A Café

The Café has a selection of hot food, salads, sandwiches, pastries and cakes and also offers hot and cold drinks, wine and beer. All food is prepared cooked and on the premises using fresh food, bought daily. The Café is located in the V&A's original refreshment rooms the Morris, Gamble and Pointer Rooms which formed the first museum restaurant in the world.

Enter the magical world of Wonderland by East London Printmakers, an exhibition exploring fairy tales, myths and folk tales from around the world. Featuring over 80 artworks, the exhibition includes depictions of much-loved European tales such as Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling, as well as folklore from other continents.
