Trafalgar Square Festival - 7 to 23 August 2008

The 2008 Trafalgar Square Festival will take place in the square from 7 to 23 August on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, starting at 6pm.

Last year the festival focused on India and there was Indian theatre, dance, music, acrobatics, aerial performances and choreographed performances from Vena Ramphal. The final week was celebrated in true Bollywood style with a giant canvas painted live at the foot of Nelson’s Column.

This year there'll be three weekends of extraordinary events:

Week 1: China Inspires - Taking inspiration from Beijing 08 there will be a dynamic spectacle from collaborating UK and international artists which will transform Trafalgar Square.

Week 2: Olympics Aspirations - New artistic voices put sport and young people at the heart of the Festival.

Week 3: Images of London - The final week of the Festival sees artists re-imagining London in surprising and ingenious ways!
