LONDON EVENTS
Tin Pan Alley - London Areas
Tin Pan Alley is in the West End of London in Denmark Street WC2. It's one of Europe's most famous music streets located just off Charing Cross Road near Covent Garden and a poluar destination for music lovers.
Music can be heard from the specialist music shops which have been there since the late 1890s. Music publishers have their businesses here and in the 1960s many legendary stars such as Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles recorded hit songs in basement recording studios. The impact Denmark Street had on the contemporary music business at this time was incredible.
Abbey Road is associated with the Beatles and the studio in Denmark Street was pivotal in the role musicians created their music. For example, the Rolling Stones recorded their first album here in a studio which closed in the 70s and is now a specialist music bookshop. A festival is held in the area in July from 11am - 9.pm.
