St Patricks Day in London 17 March 2008'If you're Irish come into the parlour there's a welcome there for you...' Well, never was this more appropriate than on this very special day in London.
There'll be many celebrations marking this festival and on Saturday, Covent Garden market will sell Irish Food from 11am - 6pm. It's just one of a number of Irish themed events taking place in the capital in the run up to St Patrick's Day on 17 March.
Trafalgar SquareInternationally renowned band the Dubliners and singers Mary Coughlan and Finbar Furey are to perform at London's first St Patrick's Day festival. Thousands of Londoners are expected at the Trafalgar Square event which is free and will include traditional and contemporary Irish music and dance, food, bars, craft stalls and children's activities.
Parade & RouteThe St Patrick's Day Parade and Festival will take place on Sunday 16 March from noon until 6pm. The Parade will see marching bands from Ireland and the UK, community groups, sports cubs, schools and street theatre take to the streets of central London for a fun filled family spectacle. The Parade starts at 12noon from Hyde Park Corner so get to your chosen viewing spot with time to spare... Parade Route
Prince Charles CinemaOn Sunday 16 March 2008, the Prince Charles cinema in Leicester Square are presenting a free screening of the Academy Award-winning ONCE, along with short films TELL IT TO THE FISHES and IRISH AND PROUD OF IT.Tickets are available on the day on a first-come first-served basis from the PCC box office.
