Shepherds Bush

Shepherds Bush is in west London on the border of Hammersmith, Kensington, Holland Park, Acton and Chiswick.

It's quite a sprawling area, the focal point of which is Shepherds Bush Green, a small park surrounded by trees and shops.

Not far away are the more affluent areas of Holland Park the (and park of the same name and Notting Hill which is famous for Portobello Road and Portobello Road Market.

However, all that's set to change as this area now has the very upmarket Westfield Shopping Center close to the BBC TV Studios in Wood Lane.

The re-opening of the brand new Wood Lane tube station opposite the BBC now provides the area with 4 tube stations so no problem when you want to go on a shopping spree in west London.

There's also a market (near the tube of the same name) where you can buy fruit and veg and the normal bargain clothes and so on.

Other Entertainment Centers

The famous Bush Theatre was on the Green from 1901 until 1991 and was used by the BBC for TV shows such as 'This is Your Life'. It's now the Bush Empire and plays host to many concerts and pop shows. Many of the UKs top rock groups grew up in the area and include The Clash and Babyshambles Pete Doherty.

Bus
A new bus station (White City bus station) opens in November 2008 close to the new Wood Lane Tube station and only 70 metres from Westfield London.
