There is a certain romance about Saharaween cosy Moroccan restaurant and ground
floor tea room.
Located between Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square in
central London the exquisite ambiance is highlighted by the floor cushions,
low tables and seating, and colourful rugs just as you would find in a typical
Sahara home.
Exotic belly dancers also perform in the restaurant. The popular
North African food is courtesy of a chef who specialises in tagines,
particularly the mhamar - an earthy-looking dish of lamb marinated in
maghribine spices, served with glazed apple plums and almond flakes in a
pottery bowl, with which the meal shares its name.
The concise menu also
features rich dishes such as meze, cousous and thick Berber pancakes. With
such a comfortable atmosphere, it's easy to feel relaxed.
