London Royal Wedding

29 April 2011

The Royal Wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William will be held in Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011.

The last royal wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles (parents of Prince William) was held on 29 July 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral.

Many will be hoping to catch a glimpse of Kate Middleton in her fairy-tale coach (that is if it doesn't rain) on her journey to Westminster Abbey where both the Queen Mother and Queen were married.

After the ceremony the happy couple will be congratulated by thousands lining the streets of London in a procession to Buckingham Palace.

Public Holiday

Easter is on the 24 April and then a few days later everyone in the UK will enjoy a public holiday for the wedding and on the following Monday the May Day bank holiday on 2nd May.

Many have cashed in on this extra day off (which falls on a Friday) by booking annual leave or enjoying an extended weekend break.

Live Screenings

If you want to enjoy the wedding there will be live screenings at Trafalgar Square and Hyde Park.

Interactive Map

Use the interactive map provided by the Royal Parks to find all the info about the wedding so you can plan your day. Navigate around the map and view routes to and from the ceremony. You can also download a printable version.

The navigation tool is on the top right of the map so you can easily locate essential information such as where the public toilets are located and where to get refreshments.

Southbank Centre Festival

There are many events taking place all over London and the wedding also coincides with the 60th anniversary of the 1951 Festival of Britain which is being celebrated over this period. Southbank Center hosts many events including the popular Billy Bragg and many other live attractions.

If you haven't been invited to the real thing enjoy an evening of the finest comedy and cabaret from entertainment and cabaret royalty. Dress up in your finest wedding frocks to get drinks discounts.
