For many Londoners Christmas starts when the Christmas lights are switched on in Regent Street and this year will be as spectacular as ever with McFly doing the honors.

This lovely old street is closing for this special Christmas event so enjoy it while you can.

After the switch-on many of Regent Street’s famous shops will be staying open late for the evening.

Don't forget to check out Hamleys and Liberty's which are two of the most famous stores on the street.

Don't Miss Very Important Pedestrian Shopping Day

On Saturday 6 December 2008, Regent Street joins in the West End?s annual Very Important Pedestrian shopping day. You can enjoy a day shopping in a traffic-free environment, with Regent Street dedicated entirely to pedestrians.

There'll be street entertainers and live music and on Sunday 7 December the West End hosts 'family day, with exciting events, activities and games for children of all ages.
