NOTTING HILL

... Trendy area of West London

notting hill Notting Hill is one of the most trendy areas of London situated not far from Queensway and Holland Park which are all central line tube stations.

The area is full of restaurants and bars such as All Bar One which has a terrace where you can enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

Portobello Road

portobello road Portobello Road starts just a few yards from Notting Hill Gate tube station which is not far from the popular Prince Albert pub which has a small beer garden.

Next door is the Gate Theatre and opposite WH Smiths (on Bayswater Road) is the Gate Cinema which shows mainly independent and international films. Close by is the Coronet Cinema which shows all the latest blockbuster films.

Portobello Road is one of the most popular attractions in London not only for the antiques market and shops but also for the popular Portobello Road Market.

It's a great place to buy fresh fruit and veggies and there are many trendy restaurants and cafes and take-away shops where you can buy hot food.

Royal Connections

Diana Cafe in Notting Hill This leafy central London area is not far from Kensington Palace and Kensington Gardens so it's hardly surprising this should be the location of Prince William's first school.

To the delight of local residents and tourists to London, Princess Diana could be seen punctually dropping off little William at Wetherby School in Pembridge Square.

The school is close to the Greek Orthodox Church of St Sophia in Moscow Road which is just off Queensway. Not far away is the Diana Cafè (on Bayswater Road) which is full of photographs of Princess Diana.

As well as the royal connections, the area is also famous for the annual carnival which is held throughout the nearby streets. Over a million visitors arrive every year to celebrate this popular event.
