London Trains from London Airports...

The quickest and most convenient way to reach London airports is with the Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick Express. Trains normally leave every fifteen minutes (allow extra time to buy train tickets or to collect them).

  • Gatwick Express leaves from London Victoria station and takes 50 minutes to reach London Gatwick Airport. Check their website as they often offers 4 for the price of 2 tickets.
  • Heathrow Express takes fifteen minutes from London Paddington Station to Heathrow Airport. It's cheaper to buy tickets online and if you want to travel the less expensive route, just take the underground (Piccadilly line) directly to the airport - journey takes approximately 30 minutes.
  • Stansted Express - take the underground to London Liverpool Street Station and from there the Stansted Express which takes approximately 50 minutes to Stansted Airport. Buy return tickets to London and it's a little cheaper.

  • There's plenty of information on National Rail train times, journey planner and general information for the network.

    London Trains to Europe

You can travel by train from London to Europe and it's easy, affordable and if you don't like flying, an enjoyable alternative. All you have to do is take the Eurostar from St Pancras in London to Paris and then change for the night-train to your European destination.

    EUROSTAR London to Paris

The Eurostar train operates from St Pancras station in central London to destinations all over Europe.

These high speed London trains from the center of London go via the Channel Tunnel to the heart of Paris in just 2 hours 15 minutes and to Brussels in only 1 hour 51 minutes.

London to Paris and Spain by Train and Ferry

Another way of getting from London to Paris is by train and then ferry across the English Channel.

It takes much longer than traveling with the Eurostar as it takes approximately 9 hours compared to 2 hours 15 minutes by Eurostar.

Nevertheless, if you are not in a rush and want to enjoy crossing the channel instead of going under it (some people have a phobia about traveling under Channel Tunnel) then this is the way to do it.

You get to see the famous White Cliffs of Dover and if the sea is not too choppy it can be a relaxing way of traveling to France.

If you want to travel to Spain there are many ferries operating between the UK and Santander in Spain. They offer a wide range of routes to Spain including Dover to Calais and Portsmouth to Bilbao.

    London Underground

Oxford Circus Tube Station London Underground (Metro) is known as the Tube and the majority of Londoners use this form of London transport on a daily basis.

It's much faster than going by London bus but also more expensive.

Traffic in London is the same as any other major city in the world so if you want to get somewhere fast, you must use the Tube which runs everyday from approximately 5.30am (Sunday 7.00/7.30am) until around midnight and is closed on Christmas Day.
