Located a few yards away from Southbank is the most famous traditional London food market.
It has occupied its present site for 250 years and is London's oldest food
market.
Borough is the oldest part of the London borough of Southwark and for many years was
famous for its bawdy inns where people like the young Shakespeare must have had a few pints.
Portobello Road Market is one of the top London street markets and one of the most popular London attractions located in the trendy area of Notting Hill.
On Saturdays there is an antiques market (some shops are also open during the week) and during the week a famous open-air market selling fruit, vegetables, flowers, clothes and many open-air stalls selling food.
This is a very trendy area of central London. The old Covent Garden market was here from 1500s until 1974 when it relocated as a wholesale market to Nine Elms.
Today the Market Hall sells antiques, arts and crafts and Jubilee Market sells souvenirs and clothes. During the spring and summer months the Real Food Market provides a gastronmic feast of goodies and during Christmas this is one of the most popular markets in town.
The Apple Market is a lovely indoor market selling a host of treasures and surrounded by shops and restaurants. Just outside is the famous Covent Garden piazza.
Camden Lock
Very popular since the 1960s and still going strong. Saturday and Sunday are very busy but during the week you will find many stalls open.
This is the place to buy vintage clothes as well as many other modern styles of fashion. There are many shops selling jewellery, arts and crafts and food.

Brick Lane Market
Brick Lane is famous for it's Anglo-Asian curry houses and 'pie and mash' shops. On Sunday there's a very popular street market selling a variety of things such as furniture, clothes and food.
This part of London is now very trendy with a university nearby so full of students and locals. There's also an excellent nightlife and annual festival which attracts a lot of people each year.
