The Royal Academy of Arts in Piccadilly presents the first major exhibition in the UK to showcase David Hockney's landscape work. Vivid paintings inspired by Yorkshire landscape, many large in scale and created specifically for the exhibition, will be shown alongside related drawings and films.

Chinese New Year in London 2012

Year of the Dragon

The actual day of the new year is 23 January 2012, however, the main festival in London takes place on 29 January 2012 in Trafalgar Square with colorful stalls, dragon and lion dances and traditional and contemporary music.

Wrap up warm and be in Trafalgar Square for the opening ceremony at 12 noon and in Leicester Square at the end of the day for fireworks.

The event is FREE for all who wish to attend.

This annual event takes place in Chinatown in Soho, Leicester Square, Charing Cross Road and Trafalgar Square and is organised by the London Chinatown Chinese Association. Last year 300,000 people attended the celebrations which are the largest outside Asia - More Info...


There are some excellent restaurants in this area so you can wine and dine and celebrate the Chinese New Year in the heart of London. Nearby are Oxford Street, Covent Garden and Piccadilly.
