London Buses...

London Bus Oxford Street

A visit to London isn't complete without a trip on one of the famous red London buses.

The traditional RouteMaster bus (which you could jump on and off of when they were moving) has been discontinued due to safety reasons and 'safer' buses have replaced them.

We still have the traditional red double decker bus which London is so famous for, however, now they are closed in and you enter when the bus is at a bus stop.

Single-decker buses (some very, very long) have recently been introduced with many entrances. Consequently, you don't have to show your pass or ticket... However, sometimes an inspector may get on the bus and then you will have to show it.

London has a good bus service and at night you'll always find a bus. Night buses are normally full to overflowing with happy and very tired people on their way home. Bus fares are the same as during the day.

It's a good idea to buy an Oyster Card, Travel Card or Pass as this makes travelling around London much cheaper. More information on this at cheapest way to get around London.
