What's on in London in April


London April Events has lots for you this year. As well as celebrating Easter in London, we will also be celebrating the World Shakespeare Festival starting on 23 April - November 2012 and Globe to Globe at the Globe Theatre. On 22 April it's the annual London Marathon.

158th Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race

7 April 2012

The two top universities in the UK face each other for this popular 4 mile rowing race which first took place in 1829 in Henley on Thames. Since 1836 it has been held in London.

The annual contest between Oxford and Cambridge universities always takes place around Easter each year in South London between Putney and Mortlake on the River Thames. The race is televised across the world or you can watch it live in London!

Following his critically acclaimed performance in Arthur Miller's All My Sons at the Apollo Theatre in 2010, David Suchet returns in Eugene O'Neill's masterpiece, Long Day's Journey into Night.


Set in 1912, the story is a compelling family drama between James Tyrone (David Suchet), Mary Tyrone and their sons, Jamie and Edmund during a long summer's day. This multi-award winning play is one of the greatest American plays written in the twentieth century.

London April Events - International Buddhist Film Festival

The 10th International Buddhist Film Festival (IBFF) will showcase a selection of Buddhist cinema from 11-15 April 2012 at the Apollo Piccadilly Circus.

This will be the first time the IBFF has visited the UK since 2009.


Among the programs is a Spotlight on Burma, with two films, Aung San Suu Kyi: Lady of No Fear and Into the Current, and among the premieres are films from Nepal, Japan, Thailand, Canada and China.

London Marathon - 22 - 23 April 2012

The world's biggest city marathon kicks off on 22 April 2012 starting at Greenwich Park for the 26 mile race. The 30,000 or so runners will race for their favorite charity and run through the city of London finishing at The Mall next to Buckingham Palace.

The months of training will soon pay off and even if you don't win, it's still great fun and well worth doing - London Marathon
