Imperial War Museum

The Imperial War Museum was founded in 1917 as a memorial to those who died and suffered in the First World War.

Today the Museum includes all conflicts focusing on British and Commonwealth involvement from 1914 to the present day.

There are around five million photographs in the Photograph Archive and the Film and Video Archive includes a series of taped interviews from the Spanish Civil War.

The Museum also has interviews from the 1970s TV series World at War and The Great War, and more recently, the Finest Hour which was shown on BBC2 in 1999.
