Globe Theatre London

The Globe Theatre is an authentic thatched wooden reconstruction of the original open-air playhouse where many of the most famous plays of William Sheakespeare were written and performed.

Every year Shakespeare's birthday is celebrated in the Globe and on the river. This replica of the orginal (which was just 200 yards away), is the brainchild of American actor and director Sam Wanamaker.

On-site workshops...

Shakespeare is famous the world over and the theatre is always full of students, tourists and those who love to see his plays. Actors, directors, musicians and designers all help by sharing their insights and practical experience with students, teachers and members of the public of all ages and nationalities.

There are on-site workshops, in-service training, distance learning programs and seasonal events. Every year more than 50,000 students take part in activities, tailor-made to the specific needs of the group, from primary school to post-graduate level.
