Eating out in London has never been more enjoyable than today! This buzzing metropolis has undergone what can only be described as a culinary renaissance.

London has thousands of restaurants and a staggering choice of culinary delights from all over the world.

International chefs have introduced mouth-watering cuisine from countries such as Greece, Spain, France, Italy, Lebanon, India, China, Thailand and many more. This has resulted in an eclectic mix of delicious ethnic flavors alongside the culinary delights of traditional English cuisine.

Although restaurants can be expensive there are a vast amount of very affordable places to eat some great food in London with the popular 'menu of the day' ranging from £5-10 many areas of central London.

Eating out in the Oxford Street area of London

When the sun shines in London there's a mad dash for eating out on the terraces and if you're in Oxford Street and wondering where to go, take a stroll down a small alley called St Christopher's Place (close to Selfridges).

This leads on to Barrett Street where you'll find café society at it's best. Trendy restaurants such as Carluccio's line the street and tourists and locals alike enjoy drinking coffee, eating cakes and wining and dining in this traffic free zone.

Other great places nearby are Carnaby Street and Ganton Street and the not so well known Lancashire Court which has lots of lovely restaurants with terraces such as Hush Brasserie where you can wine and dine.

Charlotte Street is just off Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road and famous for it's terraced restaurants both cheap and expensive.

If you're looking for inexpensive food in London try a great kebab or fish and chips (take away or eat in) at Dionysus Greek Restaurant next to Tottenham Court Road tube station. For a great night out (and a bit more expensive), try the Elysee Greek restaurant and club.

Eating out in London - Knightsbridge, Notting Hill, Westbourne Grove

The upmarket london area of Knightsbridge has many cafes and restaurants where you can sit on the terraces and enjoy food in London. This is where the famous Harrods department store and food hall are located - definitely not to be missed!

Westbourne Grove, Notting Hill and Portobello Road have a good selection of places to eat and nearby Portobello Road Market is great to stock up with fresh fruit and veg. There are many excellent Spanish delicatessens such as Garcia's (cafe next door) and many Portuguese and Moroccan shops and cafes.

Eating out in London around Covent Garden

There's a lot of choice in trendy Covent Garden and veggies are well catered for at Food for Thought in Neals Yard where you can eat tasty food for £6.

The Covent Garden Grill is another popular and inexpensive place to go and if you like traditional pasties try the West Cornwall Pasty Co . There are many branches all over town and in Covent Garden you can eat on the terrace and enjoy a filling meal with one of the best views overlooking the Piazza.

Eating out in London around Leicester Square...

If you're in Leicester Square there are many affordable places to go like Yates Bar which as well as being large and comfortable, has great deals on meals. There are literally hundreds of great restaurants from Italian bistro's to the highest of French Cuisine offering fantastic food in London. Nearby is China Town which offers authentic Chinese food at good prices.

The arty and very trendy area of Southbank (home to the London Eye) has many excellent restaurants and bars and also many popular places to stop and enjoy a snack and drink.

Not far away along Bankside (close to London Bridge and Vinopolis city of Wine) is the amazing Borough Market.

Fresh fruit and veg and an array of mouth-watering food combined with lots of trendy restaurants and bars make this a popular area for locals and tourists to enjoy not only the atmosphere but the delicious London food.
