Borough Market

borough market

Borough Market is a traditional food market full of color and aromas which will get you taste buds racing. It has occupied its present site for 250 years and is London’s oldest food market.

Borough is the oldest part of the London borough of Southwark and for many years was famous for its bawdy inns and unsavoury lifestyle.

The market was established on the Southbank and is spread over a few small cobbled streets.

It has been used as a location for many films and more recently for the film Bridget Jones's Diary. The Globe Pub in Bedale Street was used for the flat where Bridget Jones lived.

The Market Porter Pub

The film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban used the Market Porter Pub at 9 Stoney Street as the location for the Third Hand Book Emporium and the Leaky Cauldron.

You will also find the popular Brindisa Spanish Foods in Floral Hall on Stoney Street. It was voted Best Retailer 2006 by readers of the Observer Food Monthly and is famous for the chorizo sausage burgers which everyone loves.
