Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury is a very lively and fashionable area of London associated with the arts, education and medicine.

This is a university area full of students and so buzzing with life and activity. There are hospitals such as Great Ormond Street for Children and the internationally famous Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

The leafy squares and lovely hotels are home to the famous British Museum and the British Library Reading Room where Karl Marx wrote many of his famous books. In 1997 the British Library moved to a building next to the newly refurbished St Pancras Station.

The author Charles Dickens lived here for many years (the Dickens Museum is in Doughty Street) and it was also home to a popular group of famous people of the early 1900s. Members included well-known authors Virginia Woolf, E. M. Forster and economist John Maynard Keynes.

More recently it's famous for being the place where JK Rowling (author of Harry Potter books) was first discovered in a small publishing house in the area.

This is a great place to stay whilst you're in London. It's full of atmosphere, history and culture and you have everything literally on your doorstep. There are restaurants and shops and you're just a stones throw away from Covent Garden and Oxford Street.
