LONDON EVENTS

Barbican Centre

The Barbican Centre is the largest multi-arts centre in Europe, featuring art, film, music, theatre, dance and education all under one roof and under one creative direction.

The 60s was a time of fresh ideas and this is when the idea of the centre first began. When completed the cost of building the centre was estimated at £156 million.

The architectural style reflects the ‘brutalism’ of the 60s which some may consider a bit cold.

The Centre includes the following:
1,949 seat Hall
1,166-seat Theatre
200-seat Pit theatre
3 cinemas
Art Gallery and a 2nd gallery
The Curve and 4,645m2 of foyers and public spaces
Lakeside Terrace, a roof-top tropical conservatory, 7 conference suites, 2 trade exhibition halls, private function rooms and the 3 restaurants; Searcy’s, Waterside Café and Balcony Bistro.
